Dr. SongBird
My name is Alvin L. Henry IV. I was raised in a somewhat small town in southern California. All I can remember is dancing around to music and wanting to be on stage like Prince and rockin' to the music. I am a Media/Composition Major at California State, University Northridge. I have an emphasis in voice, music industry, composition, and jazz piano. I love playing and singing and being involved in the buisness aspects of my art. I currently as a songwriter and I am also apart of a band. At this present time I am working on establishing my own publishing company. I take an extreme pride in the making and creating of music. I love to offer music that moves people in ways that they haven't been moved before. I believe that as an artist you must give the world music that they can embrace. It is more so an oppurtunity to distract the world from all it's hang-ups. This past fall I was apart of a choir that sang back-up for Mariah Carey during last fall's Hurricane Katrina Relief Concert. I am a consistent music store consumer and a all time faithful concert attendee. This past spring a was given the best oppurtunity a musician could as for, and that was to perform at Carnegie Hall. It was a grand experience performing at the world renowned Hall and experience that life and culture of New York City. I was so moved by the city that I will be attending Stony Brook University in Long Island this fall to study music on exchange. Music has been apart of me since I can remember listening to some of my greatest influences such as: Marvin Gaye, Dave Matthews, Frank Sinatra, John Coltrance, Paul Simon, Aretha Franklin and John Legend. I enjoy hanging out going to concerts, catching any music event, playing frisbee, running, parties, reading and just sitting in my room fliping records.
